Sister Virginia
My name is Virginia Calatayud Alexaindre. I was born in La Pobla Llarga,
province of Valencia (Spain), in the midst of a Christian family. Already at school
I felt an inclination towards a religious life. As time passed by I convinced myself
that forming a christian family was the best and I forgot that vocational sign I
had when I was a child. I had always been compromised with the Sisters of
Charity of Saint Anne and after studying to become a civil servant, they invited
me took take part in a working camp for women that they had organized, where
we shared our lives with them, also children and teenagers from unstructured
families who came from one of their schools and also with elderly people in one
of their Homes.br>
But when I truly discovered my vocation to lead a contemplative life was in
the Neocathecumenal Way, where I experienced in my heart the overwhelming
love of Christ, falling profoundly in love with Him. My parishioner, Father Julio
Loma Sanfélix encouraged me to make an experience at the Monastery of Saint
John of Jerusalem of the Order of Malta in Gandía (Valencia). I spent 15 days at
the monastery where I received a powerful call which pushed me to leave
everything for Our Lord Jesuschrist and to become His spouse forever. I made
solemn profession of perpetual vows on the 26th April of the year 1995.
I thank God every day for the excellent vocation that I have been chosen
without having any merit, praying for the whole Church and specially for the
priests, our Order and the whole world.
Sister Melba
My name is Melba Laila Rey Suarez and I was born in San Cristobal, state of
Táchira, Venezuela. When I was a child I wanted to dress like the nuns and I felt
attracted to them. I made my decision when the Bishop of Santa Rosa de Osos visited
the school where I studied. On the 11th February of the year 1.955 I went into the
Congregation of the Daughter of Our Lady of Mercy and I made solemn profession
of perpetual vows on the 21st January 1958 and in 1973 I celebrated my Silver
Wedding: I stayed there for 40 years during which the Lord made me big gifts such
as the possibility to study Theology at the Universidad Javierana in Bogotá
(Colombia).
I entered the Convent on the 4th April 1996. I confess that even though the
adaptation was not too difficult, it was not too easy either, and today after 11 years
of cloister I can only invite everybody to come with me to give thanks Our Lord for
this immense gift that in his infinite mercy he has given me by entering this merited
Order that so much glory has given to God through its members and its works.
Sister Matilde
My name is Matilde Navas Masip. I was born in Juncosa de les Garrigues, province
of Lérida (Spain). I entered the monastery of Saint John of Jerusalem of the city
of Tortosa (Tarragona) at the age of 21. I felt in my heart how the Lord was calling
me with these words: "Not everybody who says <> will enter the
Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who fulfil My Father's will".
Directed by the parishioner of Valls (Tarragona), where I stayed during some
time with an aunt on my mother's side, I knew Catholic Action, where I matured
my vocation to lead a contemplative life. I professed perpetual vows the 10th
January of the year 1947. This has been my motto: "I promise my Jesus to be poor,
obedient and chaste and in exchange He gives me as a weeding gift His Heart and
His Cross". I have offered my life for the conversion of sinners and the salvation
of all souls.
